Modern Game Dev: Postmortem
Thanks to everyone who played Modern Game Dev.
I am very grateful to have had such a good experience related to releasing my first ever game.
Modern Game Dev taught me a lot about making and posting games and what to do (but mostly what not to do). Its been over a month since I said the game felt complete and I'm yet to receive any feedback requesting an update so I think its safe to do a postmortem now.
It took me way too long to make this game. Feature creep is a huge issue for me especially with a game with this big of a scope and such a large group of games that I drew inspiration from. This game got way too big and led to a lot of bugs and bottlenecks when combining the feature creep with my amateur code.
If I was to make this game again I would structure the scripts way better and water down overly complex features so that the good features are actually fleshed out.
This game was truly the best thing I could have made at the time and I am still very happy with how it turned out and everything else it taught me.
Play DRUGGO, my new game that released today, check my profile!
Thank you for reading.
